Rocking Your Etsy Shop - Adding an About Page

Hello... I'm so glad you are back because now that we've gotten through the nuts and bolts of our Etsy shops (setting up shop policies, shipping profiles, and adding sections) the rest is much more fun!

You've got the basics now... a shop with some items listed, a shop policies page, your shipping profiles are set up, and you have sections to help direct your visitors. You may be wondering what else you need.

Well there's a lot more that we can do to really rock your Etsy shop and make it so much more fun for your customers to visit. We'll make it a fun experience for them so they'll want to hang around for awhile :o]

Today we're going to add your 'About' page.

The Nuts and Bolts of Your Etsy Shop - Part III - Adding Sections to Your Shop

Hello again!

Did you get your shipping profiles all set up? If you missed that post click {here}. It's one doozy of a task I know. In my opinion one of the harder parts of opening an Etsy shop. But once you get past all that it gets easier!

Today's post is much easier... we're taking a breather and doing something easy! :o)

Today's Part III of The Nuts and Bolts of Your Etsy Shop is all about adding sections to your shop.

When customers are viewing your shop having your items separated into sections will help them narrow down their search. Say they are only interested in vintage kitchen items. If you have a section for Vintage Kitchen they can click on that and only the items in that section of your shop will be displayed.

It's kind of like having one of these for your customers.

The Nuts and Bolts of Your Etsy Shop - Part II - Shipping Profiles

Hello there! I'm SO sorry it took me so long to get this next post up... all I have to say for myself is it was a DOOZY to write! :o/

Are you ready for Part II of "The Nuts and Bolts of Your Etsy Shop"?

If you missed part I, we went over setting up your shop policies. You can check out that post {here}.

The Nuts and Bolts of Your Etsy Shop - Part I - Setting Up Shop Policies

So you've asked yourself the question {Is Etsy is right for you}, you've done an {Etsy vs. eBay} comparison and maybe a couple of other comparisons, and you've decided that it's time to open your Etsy shop (or maybe you've already taken the plunge)!

How to Open an Etsy Shop

So after reading {Is Etsy Right For You?} and {Etsy vs. eBay} you have either already taken the plunge or you are ready to open up your shop now right?! I guess if you've decided NOT to open an Etsy shop then we can't be friends anymore...

So, if you've decided to open an Etsy shop there are a few things you'll definitely need before that first sale!

Etsy vs. eBay

At the end of my last post, {Is Etsy Right For You?}, I said that the next post here on Etsypedia would be all about opening your Etsy shop... and that post is coming, I promise!

But first I have another post to help you decide if Etsy is right for you (if you haven't already made that decision)... consider it part II!

Is Etsy Right For You? What's Allowed, The Pros and Cons, and How Much it Costs

Hello, welcome to Etsypedia! If you missed my {Introduction} post take a peek and catch up. :o]

Long story short... Etsypedia is my new brainchild. As the name suggests it'll be an encyclopedia all about opening and running your own Etsy shop.

So, I thought it would be appropriate to just start at the beginning... determining if Etsy is right for you!

What the heck is Etsypedia??

Hi everyone, I'm Tania! Some of you may already know me if you came over from my other blog, Little Vintage Cottage.

I have been selling online for about 18 years. I started with eBay in 1998! Wow! How time flies! My mom joined me during the years I was selling on eBay and then in 2007 we discovered Etsy and opened our first shop together. I then branched out and started my own shop in 2008. I now have three shops on Etsy and I still occasionally sell on eBay as well. If you are interested in checking out my Etsy shops you can see them here:

(My main shop)

(The first shop I opened, it has gone through a couple of name changes since first opening)

(My newest shop with handmade artist bears)

(The shop with my mom that started it all)

Certainly, the number of years selling online does not make a person an expert, nor does the number of sales a person has under his or her belt and I am absolutely not claiming to be an expert, there are many people who have surpassed my sales tenfold and in a fraction of the time. But I still have quite a bit of experience and I am willing to share what I know!
